Frequently Asked Questions
1. There was a recent power outage, and now Safari is telling me that it can't connect to the server. Or, I am getting the message stating that I am not connected to the Internet. What does this mean? How can I fix this?

A: Double check the web address to make sure it is correct, or try another site. If this still happens, it usually means that the DSL/Cable modem has lost the connection with the ISP (Internet Service Provider). The usual fix is what is known as a "Power Cycle". Simply unplug the modem from its power source for about 30-60 seconds and plug it back in. This allows the modem to reconnect to the ISP and will usually fix this issue.

If you have a router connected to your network, this also may need to be power cycled. When a router is connected between the computer and the DSL/Cable modem, this acts as a firewall.

2. I am receiving the same message(s) as number one above, but I have a Airport card or a PC card in my computer to connect wirelessly. What do I do for this situation?

Check your Airport menu first, make sure that you have a strong signal, and that you are connected to your network (the one you created, or the one that was created for you). If you cannot see your network you may need to restart your computer as well as power cycle all of your devices; modem, router, and computer.

3. My printer stops sometimes with no warning. I keep choosing the print function, but nothing happens. What is wrong?

Sounds like the printer Queue got stopped. Happens a lot with the HP and Epson models with the earlier versions of OS X. Do this:

1. Go to your /Applications/Utilities/ folder

2. Find "Printer Setup Utility"

3. Double click it

4. Double click on the line with the name of your printer

5. Choose Start Jobs from the Queue menu

If there are a bunch of jobs waiting to be printed either let them print, or delete them before you start the Queue. Later version of Mac OS X fixes this but with certain printers. Let me know if this helps. Also, Let me know if you need anything.
